Decisions on subcontractors are based not just on price but on capabilities, experience, safety record, etc. The qualification involves qualification forms and interviews. For certain size packages, we will obtain a Dun & Bradstreet report to verify for financial viability. If time allows, we will visit current job sites to observe the contractor’s operations.
A Weekly Project Planner is employed with all subcontractors. With the Planner, all subcontractors agree in very specific terms as to their work during the next week.
Using the Weekly Project Planner, metrics are taken and at the beginning of the following week the results are tallied, and all participants agree on whether or not the work commitments for the previous week were accomplished. If any subcontractor is falling behind on his commitments, concrete steps are taken to help the sub catch up and get back on schedule.
