Fire Training Academy

PROJECT DETAILS

MARKET: Public Sector
CLIENT: Washington D.C. Fire and EMS Department
END USE: Fire Training Academy
SIZE: 15,600 square feet
LOCATION: Washington, D.C.

BlueScope Construction provided design-build services for a new fire training facility for the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services department. The requirements of the facility were to provide space for training, both in open classroom layout and in computer enhanced training classrooms. This state of the art training facility better equips the Washington DC fire department with the most current methods of fire fighting and life savings procedures.

Because the training is a combination of both classroom and field exercises, showers and locker rooms were required for trainee personnel. The facility also included reception and administrative areas, restrooms, and building MEP systems. The structure featured brick and metal wall panels and a painted standing seam metal roof and was designed for future expansion.
