GSA- Public Sector

White House Nursery

PROJECT DETAILS

MARKET: Public Sector
CLIENT: National Park Service, Washington, DC
END USE: Vehicle and bulk item storage
SIZE: 4,900 Sq. Ft.
LOCATION: Anacostia Park, Washington, DC

The agency needed an economical, permanent structure to house vehicles, forklifts, and various bulk products once stored in trailers and elsewhere at the Anacostia Park complex. The National Park Service operates a seven-acre nursery complex with several large greenhouses and support facilities at the park which is located within the District of Columbia. The operations supply flowers and other plantings exclusively to the White House.

The National Park Service architectural staff customized a Butler® prototype floor plan for a 35′ x 140′ x 13′ metal pre-engineered building and secured related construction services from BlueScope Construction Government Services using the GSA Supply Schedule. The facility uses a Butler Widespan™ building system with Butlerib® II metal roof and wall panel systems in contrasting Santa Fe Red and Sandalwood color finishes. The unheated building has six overhead doors and a full-length ridge vent.

The use of BSC’s GSA Federal Supply Schedule contract cut procurement time, and secured a cost-competitive and high-quality facility. Single-source responsibility through the BSC Government Services group enabled efficient turnkey engineering and construction delivery.
