Description:

BlueScope Construction provided design-build general contracting services for three distribution center expansions for Toys “R” Us. Extensive coordination with the architect, conveyor systems, and mechanical systems contractors were required to bring the projects in on-time and below budget. In addition, since all three expansions were taking place at existing distribution centers, the new construction had to take place without disrupting the on-going operations. All facilities featured metal wall systems over concrete abuse walls and metal standing seam roof systems. Superflat floors were also required to support the robotic product retrieval system.

All the facilities met their schedules, but the Mount Olive expansion was especially impressive. Although it was the largest expansion, it went from groundbreaking to stocking merchandise in only five months. The expansion was fully operational only one month later which was one week ahead of schedule.
