The Ohio Army National Guard needed a hangar and operations base for a fixed wing C-26 aircraft located at Rickenbacker Air Force Base. The hangar required 7,000 sq. ft. to house the aircraft and an additional 2,500 sq. ft. for a 2-story administrative area. The first floor is used for flight planning, operations area, kitchen, VIP lounge, general maintenance offices and bathrooms. The second story is used for training area, officers’ and enlisted locker rooms/shower areas, exercise room, break room, and the mechanical room.

Work completed in 10 months.

After investigating alternatives, the Ohio Army National Guard went with our GSA contract for a turnkey solution. BlueScope Construction’s Government Services department worked with the Army National Guard to design and construct this facility. The roof chosen for this structure is the Butler MR-24® standing seam roof system with an available 20 year weathertightness warranty, while the siding consists of the Butler prefinished Texture-Cote™ Flat StylWall® wall panel atop a partial height split faced block wall. All finishes on Butler siding and roofing carry a 25 year extended life finish warranty. The hangar door was 80' wide by 20' high and consisted of an electrically driven, 4 leaf, rolling door. The fire suppression system used an AFFF system and the necessary containment system.
