JCB Manufacturing Facility

Manufacturing

Client:
J C Bamford Excavators Ltd
End Use:
Equipment manufacturing plant
Project Location:
Pooler, Georgia
Square Footage:
490,000
Description:

BlueScope Construction provided structural engineering, materials procurement, and erection for the first U.S. manufacturing facility of a large construction and agricultural equipment supplier. JC Bamford wanted their U.S. facility to resemble their existing plant in England which has a parapetted saw-tooth roof. BlueScope Construction supplied a double sloped roof (350' per slope stepless roof) with exterior gutter, concealed by a fifteen foot fascia system. The U.S. design resulted in a building that closely resembles its United Kingdom counterpart yet differs considerably in construction and cost substantially less to build. To speed construction and enhance safety, every other 50' bay was assembled on the ground with liner panel, insulation, and roof clips located and temporarily installed. The clips were permanently attached when the standing seam metal roof was installed. The front entryway featured a curtainwall. Green features included skylights and translucent wall panels for natural daylighting and energy savings.
