The Iowa Air National Guard had a desperate need to replace the deteriorating flat built-up roofs on two of their buildings located at the Des Moines airport. They wanted to eliminate the ongoing maintenance problems and expense that these roofs required every few years. Their wish list included a desire for a high quality roof system with low maintenance and a good warranty that would protect the sensitive equipment housed inside these buildings, as well as improve the aesthetic appeal.

The low gloss “Birch White” Butler-Cote™ premium panel finish combined with additional fiberglass insulation provided improved thermal efficiency to reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling. The ANG also received a full system 20-Year Weathertightness Warranty on the new, virtually maintenance-free roof. Because BlueScope Construction Government Services offers its products and services through the GSA Contract with a design-build approach, the ANG was able to acquire these roofs in a much shorter time frame than the traditional design-bid-build method.
