US Coast Guard Fast Response Cutter (FRC) Support, Miami Beach, Florida
BlueScope Construction was recently awarded a $3.7 million contract by the United States Coast Guard to design and construct a Support Building for home porting new Fast Response Cutters (FRC) at the Coast Guard Base Support Unit in Miami Beach, Florida. Besides the new structure, BlueScope’s work includes relocation of Coast Guard employees and then remodeling and upgrading existing facilities; connecting new water, sewer, fire protection, power and telecommunications services to the new building; developing new parking areas; and additional sitework. Warner Nease Bost Architects in the architect of record, Scott C. Woods and Associates is providing mechanical engineering, and Johnston Burkholder Associates is the consulting structural engineer. Project is designed to obtain LEED Silver certification upon completion. Construction of the new facility has commenced and is expected to be substantially completed by October 2012.
Foundations have started on the US Coast Guard project in Miami Beach.
FedEx Ground Rialto Hub & Local City Expansion, Bloomington, California
BlueScope Construction (BSC) was recently awarded an 85,000 square foot expansion to an existing FedEx Ground shipping hub located in Bloomington, California. BSC’s scope of work includes the structural design, material procurement, and erection of the building shell for the expansion. BlueScope Construction has been providing similar services to FedEx Ground for over 15 years. During that timeframe BSC has worked on nearly 100 FedEx Ground Hub or Expansion projects.
